Building on a long-standing partnership, LG Innotek is expanding its collaboration with Zoox to supply automotive camera modules for the serial production of its purpose-built robotaxi fleet. This agreement marks a major milestone in the multi-year relationship between the two companies.
Zoox has created a purpose-built robotaxi that gives the world a better way to ride. Last year the company opened the first robotaxi serial production facility in Hayward, CA, to produce these vehicles at scale and launched its robotaxi ride-hailing service in Las Vegas, making it the first company in history to provide a fully driverless ride-hailing service in a purpose-built robotaxi.
LG Innotek has maintained a close partnership with Zoox since the early stages of the robotaxi's development. Over the next several years, Zoox vehicles will feature LG Innotek's high-resolution automotive cameras, as part of the robotaxi sensor suite which provides an overlapping field of view and 360° coverage. The cameras incorporate the company’s world-class, ultra-precise optical design technology, which has been perfected through its extensive experience in the mobile camera module sector. Designed for prolonged exposure to severe weather, these waterproof modules ensure reliable sensing and consistent performance under extreme environmental conditions. Depending on their mounting positions, these products feature five different fields of view (FOV), enabling precise, omnidirectional sensing.
LG Innotek’s camera modules are currently being assembled onto Zoox robotaxis, positioning LG Innotek as a key supplier of core perception hardware as the Autonomous Vehicle industry prepares for rapid growth over the next decade.
